12/24/16 - Day 3: The Getty
THE GETTY!!!! It truly was one of the most mesmerizing places I've ever been to. Being an art major and have being enrolled in an art history class every semester, I've heard of it, but I didn't know much. It's a lot less contemporary/modern and has a lot of art from centuries ago. It's no MOMA or Art Basel so my sister didn't appreciate it nearly as much as I did. Walking through this museum, I was able to witness so many paintings and artworks I've learned so much about in my college career. Seeing a painting I took my final on a couple weeks prior, it was absolutely surreal.
And who would have thunk the most beautiful things in the museum were the VIEWS!? We literally had to take a 10 minute tram to the top of the mountain where the Getty sat. It was a very cultural day.
The ground floor of the museum also featured a photography exhibit. AN ENTIRE WING DEVOTED TO PHOTOGRAPHY! AN ENTIRE GIFT SHOP FILLED WITH VINTAGE CAMERAS/PHOTO BOOKS/PICTURE MERCH! It was a freakin kid in a candy shop. I collect anything to do with a vintage camera so I was beautifully blessed to grow my collection. It was so hard not to buy everything.
After our long day of museumin', Rach and I went to the Universal City walk. (Mostly because of the sock store they had there.... I literally spent $40 on socks... no shame..)
