11/12/17: Decades - 70s

INTRO: The prompt for my final photo project for Directorial Mode was simple - shoot something you love and that interests me. I love to shoot people, and the past interests me. I decided to split my final project into four different parts - with four different decades. I did intense research on the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, watching movies, looking at old magazines, and reading reading reading. After I reached out to the models I chose, I made an extremely ELABORATE look-book powerpoint breaking down my makeup/clothing/accessory/pose/props/concept expectations to show my models.

To stop this from being an ordinary, basic, vintage wannabe fashion shoot, I wanted to go a step farther and a step deeper. Not only did I research on the fashion of that decade but I read about the social, cultural and political movements going on of that era, and I wanted to portray that with my photos.

PART TWO: The 70s. Anyone that knows me, I obsess with the past, but definitely the 70s in particularly. My favorite show is That 70s Show, I even made it my 21st birthday theme. In the 70s it was all about bell bottoms, suede, middle parts and disco. The 70s is where the counter-cultural act was started - in other words the creation of the hippies. Drugs, music and sex were used to protest against "the man" and I used to Reagan to show that.
